Hi,
It has been slow. I know much of the staff here at Construx has been enjoying a much needed break. It is still pretty quiet though. A couple of small responses to your suggestions.
Marketing? We have not done any marketing really of this site. We may mention it to our clients when delivering our services. We did list it on our corporate web site briefly but in a small way. So that is about it. Steve's blog (link here) still does pretty well. So, yes, perhaps it is a marketing issue.
Trendy stuff? Some truth here also I think. Our conversation is more about how we get the job done in *the long run* rather than what I may need today. Trendy stuff is always new where best practices, by definition, have been around for awhile.
Other factors? Construx (even Steve McConnell readers) is a fraction of the size of Microsoft. We don't have paid professional staff monitoring and supporting the site (yes, I do have a day job). We also have a policy of not allowing "anonymous" posting. We decided that you have to at least register in an attempt to have a "professional" discussion. We have also been trying to rehost the site on a more reliable ISP and have held back new content.
All that, we here are Construx are still excited about the site and you will see our marketing, participation, and our blogging continue and increase in 2008. We plan to keep the Conversation going!
